Greg has a wife and two kids that keep him focused. he came from San Diego as a kid and has been here in SA for sixteen years. Living close to Sea World has its advantages for a young family. Playing on a local softball team in the area if fun for him. Greg also enjoys baseball, football and basketball. he has been working air conditioning for seven years and likes helping customers make good decisions. He said he like working at Shafer because we are honest and have a great staff. we had been after Greg to come work for a few months and were glad to finally get him aboard in 2010. Since Greg has started there is a new energy to the whole crew.
Brian was born to a military family and moved around as a kid. He was in Houston during high school and played 5A football. He came to San Antonio in 2007 with his wife and three kids Rhythm-Armani, Lyric, and Isaiah. The Sea World area where they live is convenient and a good place to raise kids. Brian coaches for the Raiders, a local football team and boxed competitively in the Golden Gloves tournaments. He is a member of the USA football, and STABA sports organizations. Brian enjoys playing sports like football, basketball, and running. For a challenge he plays chess and mahjong with friends. Brian is involved with his church and may be at the pulpit from time to time. He has been doing AC work for since 1996 and had his own business for a time. Brian says working at Shafer is like running his own business, only with higher standards. He also likes meeting new people everyday.
Rodney is a single dad raising one son. He finds his home on NE side to be very convenient to get around. He has a wide and varied background. He has installed cable, satellite systems, done maintenance work including drywall and painting. Rodney has certifications from NATE for AC technician and NCI for air balance, and combustion. Some of his interests are playing the guitar, recording and mixing music, and running the sound and stage equipment for his church. He enjoys working for the church, spreading the word, and devotes time and energy to help others in need. Rodney has broad experience, just ask him about antique cash registers. Saving the world one AC system at a time is his motto. He realizes our work is someone’s crisis at the time. He said Jimmy Shafer has helped him become a better man that Shafer is the best place he has ever worked because of the family environment. Rodney came on in early 2005 and has set the pace in the AC department for most of that time.
Ryan has worked here since 1983. He has done practically every job in the company at one time or another. He has worked in San Antonio all of his adult life, but most of that time he has commuted from Poteet. His wife Michelle worked at Trinity University many years and now for ESC Region 20. They have three children, two girls and a boy, all gainfully employed. They have three grandkids also. Ryan enjoys digital photography, playing cards, working in the yard, and as a Shriner, participating in parades around the area and raising money to help kids. He enjoys AC and plumbing work, meeting people and making their lives better. Shafer has allowed him to have a full career and advance to the top level of management at Shafer.
Bob was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts and has lived in San Antonio for over 15 years. He has over 35 years of plumbing experience. He’s most passionate about providing excellent service to help customers with their problems so the next time something comes up, they ask for him. When he’s not taking gambling trips to Vegas and Louisiana, he enjoys amateur woodworking, gardening, sports card collecting and bowling.
Carlos was born in Monclova, Mexico. At the age of 10 he moved to San Antonio where he met his wife, Juany. They have 3 children, 2 daughters and a son and a teacup Chihuahua named Chiquita. While working at Shafer Services, he hopes to further his education and become a Journeyman Plumber and even possibly a Master Plumber. In his spare time he enjoys watching baseball on TV, playing basketball every Saturday night and riding bikes with the family on the weekend.
Charlie was born in Washington State but has lived in the SA area since 1989. He is retired military and has been at Shafer since 1998. Charlie and his wife Cathy live in Schertz and have a dog Molly. The kids Amanda and Jeremy are grown and he now has a grandson thanks to Amanda. Charlie is a member of The Country Church and leads the men’s bible study. He and Cathy like to visit market days and flea markets around the state. He gets to play golf occasionally but not as much as he would like. He enjoys sporting events and spends a lot of time working with the church. Charlie likes meeting customers and helping them get their plumbing needs resolved. He says he likes the honest, family environment at Shafer and the fact that we are involved in the community.
Chris lives in the country with his wife of over 14 years and their 2 daughters, some horses, dogs, cats and chickens. With over 20 years of plumbing experience, he still enjoys helping people take care of their homes and bringing new & innovative products into the mainstream. When he’s not helping plumbing customers, Chris likes to play disc golf, music, gardening, exercising, cooking, home brewing, just about anything else outdoors and most of all parenting. What he likes most about Shafer Services is the true teamwork and the allowing for family time.
Chris, his wife Leslie, and son Roman have two dogs at home. They spend lots of time outdoors whether fishing, hunting, bow hunting or camping. He has lived in SA all his life and currently lives in the north central area. Chris is a master Plumber and has been doing plumbing work for more than 20 years. He likes solving the customer problems and making them happy. He said he likes working here because of the stability Shafer has since we have been around for almost 120 years and are here to stay. His brother Robert works here also.
Joe has a wife, 2 kids, 2 step kids and 2 grandchildren. Born in Kerrville, Joe now resides in Kirby. He's been in the plumbing industry for over 30 years and enjoys the challenges that plumbing work can throw at you. He said he likes working for Shafer Services because we are a professional company. We he's not working, he enjoys gardening, fishing, hunting and golfing.
Josh worked in the oilfield at one time and started here in 2008 as a delivery driver. He quickly started learning AC installation and has become a valuable team member and in high demand.
He does woodworking at home and sells some of the items he makes. He has a grown son, grandson and takes care of his mom. Despite the fact that Tom lives in Hondo, he makes the trek to work everyday and is usually one of the first here. He started in 2004 and has gone from installer to tech and back to installer which he likes better.
Booth has been in the HVAC business for 5 years, focusing on helping customers overcome house performance issues. He and his wife have a 2 year son, 1 dog and 2 cats. In his spare time he enjoys reading, hanging out with friends and traveling.
Gregg was born and lived in Chicago for some time but we don’t hold that against him. He has lived here in SA since 1994 where he married his wife a year later. They have three kids, Morgan, Grant and Cameron who keep them busy. He has earned a degree in business marketing and holds a certification in air balance from NCI. Gregg enjoys working out, bowling, fishing, poker and watching many sports on TV. Motorcycle riding is an occasional pastime he enjoys, especially for charity events. He is a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles where he helps with charity events. What he likes most about AC work is solving the different issues each job has, and making those customers happy. Gregg said the best thing about Shafer is the Family business feeling and knowing that they are willing to go the extra mile for the employees and customers.
